Join us Thursday, November 12th when Hilary Gadsby of Wales, UK will talk with us about the Wonderful World of WikiTree! WikiTree is one of the newer kids on the block and has been around since 2008. It is comprised of a community of genealogy volunteers who work together to grow an accurate tree using DNA and traditional sources. It is a shared social-networking website that allows users the ability to contribute their own family tree. Everything on the site is free and you can find a copious amount of information including the sources for that information. Volunteers come from all over the world and share their knowledge and expertise freely.
Hilary has been involved with WikiTree since July of 2011. She is a WikiTree Ambassador, Greeter, and Project Coordinator for England and Wales. She’s is quite active in the England and Wales projects, among others. Some of the surnames she researches are Buckle, Gadsby, Rosling as One-Name Studies on WikiTree and also Roberts, Ward, Witt, Crowson, Wiltshire, Tudgey, and Gingell, She also researches in the English counties of Hampshire, Dorset, Wiltshire, Rutland, Lincolnshire, Leicestershire, and Norfolk.
Besides WikiTree, Hilary has been a blogger since 2007 and has been researching her family tree for 20 years. She has 4 blogs including https://gadsbyfamilyancestors.blogspot.com/ and https://genemeet.blogspot.com. She is a RootsTech Ambassador and a regular panelist on Mondays with Myrt. Hilary lives in Wales and is the North and Mid Wales regional representative for the Guild of One-Name Studies for which she has been a member since 2015.
