Worcester Chapter – Annual Meeting
Carol Prescott McCoy will present on Genealogy Research in Maine.
Carol McCoy, Ph.D., owner of Find-Your-Roots.com, based on Brunswick, Maine, has lived in Maine since 1991 and has come here for vacation for her entire life. She has helped people trace their ancestors in Maine, New England, New York, and West Virginia and many other places. She is a frequent speaker at NERGC and other local societies. She served on the Board of Directors of the Maine Genealogical Society (MGS) for seven years, and also served as president of MGS and of the Greater Portland Chapter of MGS. She led a project to index the early land deeds of Cumberland County Maine, which taught her a great deal about land records. She transcribed the vital records of Durham (Androscoggin County) Maine, published by MGS. She has contributed numerous sketches of Mainers to whom she is not related, to Volume 12 of Maine Families in 1790, published 2021. As co-author of a book with Maureen Taylor and Peter Small, she did extensive research on the Small and Metcalf families who have deep roots in New England. She loves being in and researching in Maine and hopes you will join her for the talk on Doing Genealogical Research in Maine on June 5th for the Worcester Chapter of the Massachusetts Society of Genealogists.
