November 11. Armistice Day. The last day of the Great War. And Veterans Day. A day to honor all veterans. It is fitting that we remember the men and women of the armed forces on this day. Join us for this informative webinar on researching your veteran ancestors. Military Genealogist and Historian Matthew B. McCoy will explain how to find military records for your ancestor, how to put together a timeline, and find out what resources are important when researching military records.
Bio: Matthew B. McCoy
Matthew McCoy is a veteran and military genealogist. He retired from the U.S. Navy as a Lieutenant (O-3E) in December 2003 after completing 23 years of naval service. He worked as a Principal Systems Engineer for Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems on the Zumwalt Class Destroyer Program until his retirement in 2016. He served as a Commissioner and State Coordinator for the Rhode Island World War One Centennial Commission from 2017 – 2018. He is a Silver Legacy Life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States and is currently serving as the State Adjutant for the Department of Rhode Island. He also serves as the Vice Chairman of the Rhode Island Committee of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve. He is a member of the Rhode Island genealogical Society. He lives in North Kingstown, Rhode Island.
